iPhone Maps a Disaster!!
Tim Cook of Apple released a statement apologizing for the new maps software included with the latest iOS 6 release in conjunction with the introduction of iPhone 5 on the market last week. The new software apparently has been deemed well below standard for consumer use. The maps program is supposed to offer landmark locations and turn-by-turn directions. After only one week, "iMaps" (my name for it) has turned up more disappointment than accurate driving directions. The software is said to have distorted images and inaccurate landmark locations.
So, case and point. With Apple trying to corner the market in just about every aspect of people lives, they are more worried about releasing new products onto the consumers to gain a greater profit margin and become a technological giant, but sadly they have pushed to trying something new and, what I simply love about it, FAILURE!! HA HA HA!!
There is a saying that goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Growing animosity betweem Apple and Google, i.e. iOS versus Android, it seemes Android is the victor, for now. Apple is extremely reluctant to reinstate Google Maps as the mapping software for the new iPhone, AND Google software, like YouTube, is no longer preloaded on the phones. What are we going to see next? Is Apple going to try some new consumer video software?
We'll have to wait and see. On a side note, even though Apple has grown in popularity over the last 5 years and we now have i-Everything, Apple's stock, which had grown nearly 70% this year, has fallen another 1.3% since the most recent technological fiasco. Before iPhone 5, Apple's stock was over $700.00 a share, and I was it as high as $709, but as of yesterday, it has fallen to $672.57. That's nearly a $40.00 a share drop in just ONE week. Shareholders cannot be happy with Apple's strategies.
